Just purchased the Wellington Black Hybrid King Prime by Simmons for $5400 from MattressFirm. Have yet to take delivery. Can I get this mattress cheaper on Amazon?
ReplyWe just bought a Simmons luxaru pillow top Sonya…first new mattress as a couple. Only slept on it one night. It has some give and I believe my husband thinks it will sag early, after we read some bad reviews on premature sagging…Please give any info on this particular mattress as we were unable to find reviews from consumers on this particular one. Thanks!
Margie
Hi Margie
The biggest problem that I see, is that reps do not tell their clients beforehand that body weight has a significant role to play when it comes to sagging. I think you should give your mattress a bit more time and what I know is that most mattresses will sag, but you do not want them to sag more than 1″ as this might become a problem.
ReplyWhat is the review and the rating for BEAUTYREST BLACK – NATASH PLUSH PILLOW TOP HYBIRD I am on the process of buying king size.
ReplyHi Sophi
I currently do not have a review on this mattress, but it is not bad. It has a comfort rating of 8 which means that it is best for side or mixed sleepers.
ReplyI bought a Beautyrest Black Alexia King Size. I don’t think the right one was delivered. I didn’t complain because I needed a new mattress so badly. I liked the Black Alexia because it was firm and because you didn’t fall off the side of the bed when you sat on the edge. The mattress I got didn’t have a firm edge and had more of a pillow top. It had a shiny cloth on the top of the mattress that said Black Alexia and was attached with a few threads. What mattress do you think I got? Also, can I contact the company 2 years later and find out? Also, I think I feel a coil sticking in my back when I sit up to read near the head of the bed. I would appreciate your ideas.
ReplyHi Nancy
Where did you buy the mattress from? It is very hard to know exactly which mattress you received.
ReplyIn the black collections I am very confused because even though its in the black collection not all mattresses are Black. Some are Dark Grey, some are White and some are Black which is very confusing. I need 5 year financing. But only mattress firm and city furniture offer thst but don’t carry the luxury firm I want. So I am very frustrsted. Please respind ASAP!
Thanks,
Lori Smith
Hi Lori.
I would not worry too much if there are white or grey mattresses in the Black collection. Even though most of the mattresses have an olive colour, the specific name is Black.
Just make sure that it says the word “Black” on the mattress.

ReplyHi…considering Macys meat in world-class plush..or Reyna black lux firm..i didn’t c a,black plush..dont like pillowtops too soft for my back but need some cushion for my sides..also raympour flanigans linden firm aireloom?
I have spondiloleyhsis n need to lie straight..but also sleep on side..thanks
Hi Marla,
What type of sleeper are you? Are you a side, back or stomach sleeper?
research projects for students ReplyI’m getting ready to return my luxury firm hybrid for a beauty rest black plush from Jordan’s furniture.. It’s to firm for me I’m a side sleeper and my husband a back and side who needs a little More support. I’m tiny and wake up with hip and shoulder pain. Do you think we will be ok with this one??? It’s the latex one?? Just worried the coils will still be too hard … ??? Hoping he cushion above is enough ..?
ReplyHi Patty
The firm and plush will be as different as night vs day. The plush is very good for side sleepers as your hips and shoulders needs to sink in more to give an aligned spine.
If you want to go softer, then I would recommend the pillow top, but then it will be too soft for your husband.
ReplyWhat do you think about the beautyrest black lillian pillowtop from macys? It is a pretty new model
I am a side sleeper and my shoulders and hips hurt from mattresses because they are very boney.
I also have neck issues
ReplyI am not very familiar with the Black Lillian Pillowtop, but I would recommend a type plush or pillowtop. Regarding your neck, I would recommend a memory foam pillow that is very thick.
Because you are a side sleeper, there will be more distance between your head and the mattress. This is why you need a pillow that is very thick so that your spine and neck is aligned.
ReplyNeed a review for the Beautyrest Black Grayson 2 Tight top luxury firm. Not sure why these companies make so many that don’t appear online. Cannot afford tempurpedic but need a firm one good for both back and side sleeper. Thnx
ReplyWould you please give revoew the Beautyrest black Giada and the Sealy posturpedic plus Knotty Pine.
Both are sold by Macy’s.
ReplyI appreciated the information. I have a BeautyRest (+ insomnia) and would not recommend it. Plush was not supportive enough and firm causes pressure points… I wake with back pain.
ReplyHi Anna.
If you have severe back pain, then I would recommend that you try the mattress out before buying it online. I would recommend that you go for a mattress that has a comfort rating between 4-5.
ReplyI am curious, why is it that your website only rates Simmons beauty rest black beds?
ReplyHi Douglas
I did not have time yet to write more reviews on other brands. I will start again pretty soon 🙂
ReplyI just bought a Simmons black series mattress. It will be delivered in a couple of hours. Strange thing is I never see the name of mine in articles mentioning the series. It is a Clermont. A Simmons Beauty Rest Black Series Clermont. Did I buy a discontinued one? It is a plush one although not too soft. Kind of in the middle. I have bad arthritis & need a mattress to help with pressure points. Just wondering if Clermont is still being made &I if it has good ratings? Thank you.
ReplyKaren, as a Mattress retailer and Store Manager, the Clermont is in the Beautyrest Black Hybrid line. It is not discontinued as it was only first produced summer of 2015. The Hybrid models also carry the same micro diamond infused memory foam, however the cover has been proven to sleep cooler than that of the fabric used in the black models. So if heat dissipation is a factor for you and your partner, rest assured you made a sound choice.
ReplyWe’ve been sleeping on the Black Hybrid for a month now. We started out with the traditional box spring and haven’t slept that good in a VERY long time! Unfortunately, we had to exchange the box spring for a bunky board due to bed frame. I’m not sleeping nearly as well and my body aches are back! How much of a difference do you think the box spring makes and would a low profile box spring improve the feel and life significantly?
ReplyIt really depends on the box spring. It also depends on whether the mattress is a firm, plush or pillow top. It also depends on what type of sleeper you are. If you are a side sleeper and your mattress is a type firm, then a box spring might help.
ReplyI purchased the Simmons Beautyrest BLACK AVA Plush mattress. It has a COMFORT RATING of 6. However, it is very firm and does not seem plush at all. I am a side sleeper and it is killing my back. It feels like it must be the AVA firm and was marked incorrectly. I am very concerned. Help!
ReplyHi Shirly. If you are a side sleeper, then I would recommend the pillow top. I did make a note in this article that the pillow top is the best for side sleepers.
If you cannot exchange the mattress for a softer one, then I would recommend that you put a pillow under your stomach area when you are lying on your side. This will help in contouring your body in a straight line.
Hope this helps.
ReplyI am having trouble with my hips and shoulders when sleeping so I just purchased the beautyrest hope plush queen mattress. I’m a heavy person so I wanted something soft but supportive. I really love the triple breaded coil system for long gevity. I haven got my mattress yet but have done some reading and have discovered the biggest issue with mattresses in general can be sagging and pillow tops can cause this and can effect the long gevity of your mattress. So I’ve decided since I love extra comfort that a good talalay latex topper will be the answer. This will not compromise my mattress and gives more support then a pillow top but has the comfort of a pillow top. I just scored a queen plush Hope Beautyrest on eBay still in the plastic from A company in Dallas for 1299. I hope it’s not flawed since there’s no warranty but the company has all positive reviews. They also worked out a payment plan with me so I’m praying everything works out. The company is called Florida liquidators, so I’ll give everyone an update when I get it. I just couldn’t afford 2400 for a new one but wanted the best since I’m handicapped and spend a lot of time on my mattress throughout the day. So I’ll keep my fingers crossed that this works out
Replywhat is your review and thoughts please on the Black beautyrest EVENTON plush please.
ReplyWe are looking at every bed had sleep number for 20 years and loved it looking at Alexia black liked the plush too. I am side and stomach. My concern is how will it hold up to a adjustable platform? Love your site keep it up please and open to comments
ReplyHi Brenda
Thanks for the comment. I cannot see why the Alexia Plush will not keep its form with an adjustable bed.
ReplyI am not very familiar with the Bliss, but I think that it is a type firm.
help writing an abstract ReplyI just today purchased a Beautyrest Advanced Black Athena mattress. I think it’s fairly new. Wondering if you have any comments about this mattress?
Thank you.
ReplyWhat type of sleeper are you? It looks like this mattress has a medium comfort level.
ReplyWhere does the beautyrest black. Hybrid (Alcove 13.5)sold at Mattress Firm fit in? . With mattresses often exclusive to each retailer, its hard to compare. There are do many “Black” items… And hybrids seem to be the new trend. I found all the Temperpedic mattresses I tried pretty uncomfortable and super expensive. Casper, the $800 online mattress with free shipping and returns is an interesting concept… If I were in new York, I’d definitely try it.. Or if I had a new bed without having to remove a mattress, I’d try it
ReplyThere is a huge difference in meaning between the word addition and the word edition. They sound very similar but they are quite different. This seems like a well written review otherwise, but not knowing the proper use of edition vs. addition is going to make my head explode.
ReplyHi and thanks for your comment. I am using Word and each time after I am finishes I go quickly scan through the article to see if I made any spelling errors. Because edition and addition are both spelled correctly Word did not pick it up and sometimes Word chooses the word for you.
Thanks for pointing out my error 🙂
ReplyPeople who offer unsolicited, unimportant and irrelevant comments for no legitimate reason drive me crazy. My head already exploded because of your shallowness. Very helpful info, Viljoen. Thanks!
ReplyWe bought a Serta I-series Vantage and it is TOO HOT. I wake up in a sweat at 5:30 every morning. This used to happen to me 25 years ago on my mom’s foam rubber mattress. I think it just has too much foam on top of the sprigs, and despite their claim of comfort- air-cool foam it is HOT. Do you know if this is an issue with the ALexia extra firm, or the Simmons Willow Spring? Some of their other mattresses are hot, and others aren’t. So it seems to vary from mattress to mattress. I have found individual ratings for only a few mattresses, most people seem to rate the group (black, world class, hybrid, etc.). Thank you.
ReplyHi,
What about the Simmons Beautyrest Black Hybrid Clermont? Any feedback for that model? 🙂
I think that this is a very informative site. I wish I could have red it before I bought my mattress. I was seriously looking before. If this site was up it would have seriously helped me. However, I think you should leave all the prices for the beds. the twin, queen, king, etc. Also how did that mattress help with your insomnia. I think if you included that it would be a great testimonial.
ReplyHi Roselene
Thanks for the comment. The thing about a mattress and insomnia is that a mattress will not necessarily cure insomnia, BUT it can certainly play a role in it. It also depends on what is causing the insomnia. If you cannot sleep because of a coil that is poking you in the back, then I would say you might want to look into a new mattress.
ReplyHi Viljoen. Great review of the Simmons Beautyrest Black mattresses. Wish I would have come across your review a year ago, before we bought our Sleep Number. That thing has been a nightmare! Love the high end mattress with the 2 inch foam, you don’t see that very often. It sounds like it would be very comfortable and well worth the price. Thanks for the information!
ReplyThanks Michelle.
If one wants to buy such an expensive mattress, you must do a lot of research before buying one. I will try to do some reviews on Sleep Number.
Hi Jared
I agree with you there. They are very expensive. I would personally go for the Beautyrest Recharge World Class. This type is much cheaper.
