Ikea Mattress Review

So you want to know more about the Ikea Mattresses and what it has to offer? Inside this Ikea mattress review, I am going to focus on all the different types of mattresses you can find and also the best mattresses for each type of sleeper.

This is very important because if you do not know what type of sleeper you are, then buying a mattress is going to be a lot harder than it must be.

You can be one of these 3 types of sleepers

1. Stomach sleeper

This type of sleeper needs a very firm mattress because when you are lying on your stomach, your spine needs to be as straight as possible.

2. Back sleeper

This type of sleeper can sleep on a firm to medium-firm. This also depends on the person if they want a very firm mattress or one that is a bit softer.

3. Side sleeper

Most people are side sleepers and thus require a very soft mattress that will allow their hips and shoulders to sink in a bit which will allow your spine to be aligned.

The 3 types of mattresses Ikea has to offer

1. Spring mattress

Because each coil is individually wrapped, there will be no undue pressure on your body. This is great for distributing weight and is also very durable. The air circulation is also great for those sleepers that tend to get hot at night.

The only downside of this mattress is that it cannot be turned around. Most of these mattresses are either firm or medium firm.

Below I will choose the 3 best (Twin and Queen mattresses)

2. Memory foam or latex mattress

The memory foam has the ability to mold to the contours of your body. It is also great in the absorption of movement which makes it great if you share a bed with a fidgety sleeper.

What also makes this mattress great is that it can be turned regularly. These mattresses are usually firm or medium firm.

Below I will also list the top pick of the twin and queen mattress:

Ikea MORGEDAL Foam mattress (Twin Size)

3. Mattress pillow tops

The pillow top mattress can be used as a mattress itself, but works best when added upon another mattress. When added to a mattress of your choice, it will add extra softness to it which will turn your mattress into a type plush which is softer than the firm.

Below I will give my top picks of the twin and queen size pillow tops:

Ikea TVINDE Mattress topper (Twin Size)

This twin size mattress topper has small pocketed coils that contours the natural curves of the body. The thin mattress should be added on an existing mattress to make it even softer.Ikea TVINDE Mattress topper twin size

What I did not like about Ikea mattresses

I guess this is the part where I must tell you the flaws that I found in these mattresses.

1. Pillow top is separately

Ikea does not have all in one type mattresses such as Simmons that are either plush or pillowtop. With Ikea, you need to buy a small mattress topper that you must put on top of your existing mattress.

This can lead to a lot of confusion on which topper to put on which mattress. The all in one approach that Simmons Beautyrest has to offer is much better as it takes this confusion out of the equation.

Some people like the idea, because when they have guests, they now have 2 mattresses. I also noticed that the mattress toppers do not have a warranty in Amazon (I may be wrong).

2. They do not have memory foam and spring coil hybrids.

Some of the best mattresses that I know off has a combination of spring coils at the bottom for support and memory foam on top for comfort. There might be a mattress or 2 with these features, but they are very expensive.

BUT ……….

there was one thing that I really liked and that was that you get your mattress vacuum packed and rolled up which makes it easier for moving the mattress. See video below for more details on how to unpack one of the Ikea mattresses. Have fun …

Conclusion

In this review, I gave a short explanation on the sleeping types with the matching mattress types for these sleeper types.

Ikea mattresses overall are not that bad, but I think for the price that you pay that Simmons Beautyrest is a better mattress.
