Did you know that the average person does not have an idea on what to look for when choosing a mattress? Did you ever buy a mattress before and after the first month realised that the floor was more comfortable than your new mattress?

Lull manufacturers only sell 1 type of mattress that comes in different sizes. The idea of only selling one type of mattress might not be the best approach, but let’s see where it gets us.

Inside this Lull mattress review, I am going to explain the mattress in detail where I will dig into each aspect that will make you more comfortable with the choice that you will have to make. Firstly let’s get into the different layers of the Lull:

lull mattress layers (1)

1. Gel-infused memory foam (1.5 inches)

We all know how important it is to sleep cool at night. This is the top layer that will be contouring to your bodies shape. The gel also absorbs some of the heat which will result in a cooling effect. This also reduces tossing and turning significantly.

2. Transition layer (1.5 inches)

This layer will be the middle man between the gel-infused memory foam and the support layer. This layer is very important in keeping the spine aligned.

3. Core Support Layer (7 inches)

This layer is made out of high-quality polyurethane foam that will be the foundation of the mattress. This foam was tested over and over again to ensure that it is durable.

What sleeping type are you?

All of us sleep differently and it is because of this that makes it harder for us to choose the right mattress. Luckily we get 3 main sleeping types that make the bulk out of all sleeping positions. Let us start with the back/stomach sleeper:

1. Back/Stomach sleeper

This sleeping type is very common and can also result in a lot of snoring especially if you lie on your back. When you lie on your back or stomach, you will spread your body weight out more evenly over the mattress. For this sleeping type, you need a firm type mattress because you do not want to sink in too much into the mattress.

For this sleeping type, you need a firm type mattress because you do not want to sink in too much into the mattress. If the mattress is too soft, then your spine will not be aligned.

2. Side sleeper

Most side sleepers struggle with a sore back in the morning because they sleep on a very firm mattress. The concept is that most of your body weight will put a lot of pressure on your hips and shoulders because of the contour of your body.

The best mattress for side sleepers is a soft mattress which will allow for your hips and shoulder area to sink in deeper to relieve most of the pressure. Your spine will also be more aligned.

3. Mixed sleeper

This type of sleeper does not have a dominant sleeping position. They will change their sleeping position more frequently than the side or back sleeper which results in unfavourable sleeping positions.

The best mattress for this type of sleeper is going to be the type medium on the softness scale.

Assembling the Lull mattress

This is the nice thing about the Lull mattress and that is that the mattress will come in a box. Can you still remember the days when you had to hire a truck to get the mattress to your house?

The mattress will be vacuum packed, compressed and will be fitted inside a box. Below are the steps that you need to take to assemble your new mattress.

  1. Firstly unbox the mattress.
  2. Position your mattress on a flat surface
  3. Unwrap the outer plastic and cut the inner plastic with a pair of scissors. Just make sure that you do not cut your mattress.
  4. Be patient. You can start to sleep on your mattress within 6 hours or less, but the recommended time will be 48 hours for a full expansion.

Warranty and FREE trial

The Lull comes with a 100-night risk-free trial where you can test your mattress and if you are not happy with it, you can easily refund your money.

It also has a 10-year limited warranty on each mattress that they sell.

What I liked

  1. The FREE trial. You have around 3 months to sleep on a mattress and if you do not like it, then you can refund it.
  2. You get it in a box. No more days of hiring a truck just to get a mattress delivered at home. It is also very easy to assemble the mattress.
  3. Can be used on 4 bed platforms. It can be used on a normal flat platform, slated base, box spring and the floor. The slated base is the best because most of the hot air will escape at the bottom of the mattress.

What I did not like

There was only 1 thing that I did not like and that is the fact that they only have 1 mattress available. This company states that it will work best for all 3 sleeping types because the texture of the mattress is a medium on the softness scale.

If you are a dominant side or stomach/back sleeper, then the mattress might pose a problem for you. Other mattress companies such as Novosbed and Brooklyn bedding have 3 types of mattresses such as the type firm for stomach and back, type medium for mixed sleepers and a type soft for dominant side sleepers.

For who is this mattress?

If you are a mixed sleeper and you love memory foam mattresses, then this is for you. If you have a medical condition where a mattress can play a role, then it is best to consult your doctor or physiotherapist first.

This is what also makes the 100-night free trial so great and that is that you can test the mattress and if you are not happy with it then you can easily return it.

Also keep in mind that they have a max weight limit of 250 pounds or 114 kg. If you are a side or stomach/back sleeper, then you can also test this mattress to see if it is for you, but if you exceed 250 pounds and you are a side or stomach sleeper, then this mattress will probably not be for you as body weight can play a significant role especially with memory foam mattresses.
